At Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre, research is an integral part of our commitment to advancing eye care. Our clinical research draws on the breadth of subspecialty expertise across the institution and focuses on questions that arise directly from patient care.

Every patient encounter is an opportunity to learn, improve and contribute to the future of eye care.

Alongside providing comprehensive clinical services, our clinicians contribute to the growing evidence base in ophthalmology and vision science, through clinical studies, collaborative research and scientific publications,

Research at Susrut spans multiple ophthalmic subspecialties with particularly strong contributions in vitreoretinal diseases and ocular oncology, alongside research in cornea and ocular surface disease, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, paediatric ophthalmology, refractive disorders and anterior-segment disease.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH

Global Collaboration

Collaboration forms an important part of our academic endeavour. Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre has participated in multicentre research involving institutions and investigators across geographical boundaries.

Our participation in the Global Retinoblastoma Study Group contributed to a major international study examining the clinical presentation and treatment outcomes of 2,112 patients with retinoblastoma across 33 countries in Asia. Published in Ophthalmology, the study represents a large-scale collaborative effort to better understand regional patterns of presentation, management and outcomes in retinoblastoma.

Academic enquiry is an important component of clinical training. Through exposure to research methodology, scientific writing, critical appraisal and presentation of clinical work, trainees are encouraged to engage with ophthalmology not only as practitioners, but also as contributors to its evolving evidence base.
